One of the leading theories about aging is that it is caused by the decline of mitochondrial function, the bags within us that generate chemical energy called ATP throw proteins. The interesting fact is that mitochondria are free-living organisms inhabiting inside of each of our cells and each cell could have hundreds and even thousands of these organisms that divide and fuse. Which the cell is capable of destroying when they become toxic and improve the healthy ones. And it is mitochondrial dysfunction the origin of many aging-related diseases.
Over time a person starts to lose mitochondrial function, that is a fact. Around 60 and 70s is even worst and during 80 and 90s is much lower the mitochondrial function, so the body has less ATP and Scientists think that the main problem of aging-related diseases like diabetes, cancer or Alzheimer's disease is this loss of the ability of cells to make energy. That is why is essential to maintain these organisms living within our cells happy and healthy.
But it is possible to extend the optimal mitochondrial function for longer and I will talk about it in the next text but before it is important that I described the interaction between the nucleus of the cells with these organisms. For reversing your body age you need to work mainly in 4 areas. Which are maintaining your Mitochondria function properly, a readable DNA, long telomeres, and your body clean of senescent cells that normally destroy themselves through a process called apoptosis, but they are also removed by your immune system. Which weakens when you get older what increases the number of senescent cells, so they begin to accumulate in all the tissues of the body reflecting deterioration as consequence.
This time I going to focus on these essential and independent organisms living inside your cells, which are strategic to take care of for extending your healthspan. They are a type of primitive bacteria that merged in the cells eons ago that are feed with proteins by the nucleus of the cell. Both maintain a continuous communication through the genome of each one, both have their own DNA and this communication is reduced when the nucleus loses energy for the decline of NAD+ when you get older but NAD+ can be boosted with supplementation.
David Sinclair Professor of Genetics of Harvard Medical school observed that is possible to keep the nucleus feeding the mitochondria with proteins that rejuvenate your body as result. Your muscles will have still energy as when you were young by maintaining this constant communication by increasing the NAD+ inside your body which decreases when you get older. When he injected into rats NAD+ he discovered that the nucleus of the cells increases again the communication of the genome between the mitochondria and the nucleus again.
If you prevent that NAD+ from going down or reversed it, you going you restore the activity of Sirtuins what going to have a favorable impact on your mitochondria function and overall health. Because one of the major effects of Sirtuins is to keep mitochondria healthy and to boost the number of mitochondria but when NAD+ goes down because of aging the activity of sirtuins goes down as well and the activity of mitochondria decreases.
But below I going to tell you which supplement you can take and then I am going to describe other tips to maintain the mitochondria healthy and continuously renovating. Because when they are old the cells remove them and new ones are created, a process performed by the bacteria on your gut, which normally are killed by GMO food or the fluor and Chlorine available in most of the water people drink. This mineral is very important to enhance exercise performance by increasing oxidative capacity, which is the ability of your mitochondria to produce ATP. Which is the energetic currency of your cells and it is very important that your ATP production execced your ATP consumption inorder to enhance your performance and avoid muscle fatigue.
According to Dr Patrick, There are two ways to increase your oxidative capacity. The first one is by increasing the number of Mitochondria and the second is by increasing the efficiency of your already existing mitochondria. And studies have shown that just one session of high-intesity interval training results in the production of new mitochondria but in order to make new mitochondria your existing mitochondria should copy their genome and this is done by enzymes that require magnesium as a cofactor what means that if your magnesium levels are low it going to be hard to make new mitochondria during exercise.
As you see Magnesium is important to maintain your mitochondria healthy and your energy levels high but not only that.
